What are the side effects of thicken up clear? ›

Thickening agents may cause side effects such as constipation, gassiness, or loose stools (soft poop or diarrhea).

For optimal results, stir the carbonated drink to reduce the amount of carbonation. After adding Resource® ThickenUp® Clear, leave to stand for a few minutes until the drink reaches the required thickness. 1 scoop/ sachet =1.2 g. For food, add Resource® ThickenUp® Clear as needed to achieve the appropriate consistency.

Tapioca starch or cassava flour.

Cassava flour is more nutritious and has more fiber than tapioca starch. This gluten-free option is mostly used for thickening foods. Similar to arrowroot, you'll use twice the amount of tapioca starch (or cassava flour) as cornstarch in a recipe.

Use one tablespoon cornstarch mixed with one tablespoon cold water (aka a cornstarch slurry) for each cup of medium-thick sauce. Thoroughly mix the cornstarch and water together, then pour into your sauce. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly.

Using the new scoop you will need to move to IDDSI level 2 and have 2 scoops (2.5g) per 200ml. This change affects the number of scoops required to thicken drinks. As a result the thickness of your drink may be slightly different.

Slowly add level measured thickener to liquid, stirring with fork or whisk as you pour. Stir briskly until thickener has dissolved. Before serving, let water and juices stand for at least 1 minute. Let milk and supplements stand for 5-10 minutes.

Thickened drinks must be thrown away after 6 hours at room temperature and after 24 hours if left in the fridge. Measure the liquids carefully.
